Question 1: Is Your Dog Vaccinated and Healthy?
This is non-negotiable. Your dog must be up to date on their core vaccines (DH@P, Parvo, Rabies) and, just as importantly, Bordetella and Leptospirosis. Dog parks are breeding grounds for disease. And if your dog has a cough, diarrhea, or just isn't acting right, keep them home. No one thanks you for bringing contagious diseases to the playground.
Question 2: Does Your Dog Have a Solid Recall?
"He comes when I call him at home" is not the same as "he comes when he's chasing a squirrel past three other dogs." Your recall must be proof enough to work when your dog is over-threshold with excitement. If you're not 90% sure, don't unclip the leash. Practice with a long line in a distracting environment first.
