Amelia Earhart Park is the hidden gem that the locals try to keep secret. It's a massive, 515-acre park with a large off-leash area and plenty of shade trees, a rarity in Miami. There's even a small lake where dogs can splash and cool off. Parker found a friend in a Border Collie named Luna, and they ran laps around the field until the sun set behind the parm-trees: It was perfect.
3. Tropical Park - West Miami
Tropical Park is the park for dogs who love to run. It's a massive, fenced, off-leash area that's perfect for dogs who need space to sprint. The ground is mostly packed gravel, which is not ideal for dogs who love to dig, but the space and the shade are worth it. I've seen Parker run faster here than anywhere else, and I think it's because of the cool, crisp Miami air which is a respite from the humidity.
4. Pine Tree Park - Miami Beach
Pine Tree Park is a small but mighty park that's perfect for a quick afternoon play session. It's fenced, it's well-maintained, and it has a separate small dog area that's perfect for puppies or smaller breeds. The ground is mostly grass, which is a rarity in Miami, and there's plenty of shade for hot summer days. Parker loves the shade under the big banyan trees here.
5. West Kendall District Park - West Kendall
West Kendall District Park is a hidden gem that's perfect for a quiet, scenic walk. It's not fully fenced, so you need a solid recall, but the trails are beautiful and the space is surprisingly peaceful for being so close to the city. Parker and I walked for miles here, and we only saw a handful of other dogs. It's the perfect spot for a quiet, scenic walk where your dog can explore safely on a long line.

Who Should NOT Bring Their Dog to Miami Parks
Miami heat is no joke, and if your dog is sensitive to exercise or has brachycephalic breed issues, be prepared with plenty of water and breaks. If your dog isn't used to crowds, the popular beaches can be overwhelming during weekends. For anxious dogs, I'd recommend trying a calmer park like Tropical Park or Pine Tree Park first.
